2007 Syrah
The 2007 Syrah is our sixth vintage produced of this deep, luscious varietal. Grown in the well-drained volcanic soils of the legendary “Monte Rosso Vineyard”, this wine is approachable now and will age well for many years. It has fondly earned the nickname “Black Cherry Bomb”.
Recently released, it's proving to be fruit forward, rich ruby in color with black cherry and leather aromas and hints of baking spices (cinnamon & nutmeg) on the finish. An elegant, beautifully structured Syrah, graced with soft tannins that are enhanced by decanting. Ready to pair with a spicy Asian skirt steak or grilled lamb chops.
284 cases produced.
Tasting Notes from Russian River Wine Company :
Fashioned from the “Phelps Noir” clone of Syrah and aged in 33% new
oak, this defies the usual “northern Rhone style/southern Rhone style” pigeonholing applied to California Syrahs.
A juicy chocolate boysenberry profile emerges, with ample undertones
of ripe black cherry, leather, smoke, cured meats, anise, toast, roses,
plums, sandalwood, baking spice and roasting coffee. The palate is an exaltation of fruit purity – ripe blackberry, dark cherry, black raspberry
and more plums, with soft tannins, and a finish that will stay around
longer than unwanted houseguests.
